A Memorial Tribute to Lynda Bailey

By Peggy Soule, founder of Children Awaiting Parents

Lynda Bailey was an influential leader in CAP's early days. She passed away in November of 2020 and is remembered here with great affection and respect by her friend.

Lynda Bailey was an incredible lady. She dedicated her life to her family and helping others. I first met Lynda when she adopted Greg. She and her husband, John, joined the Council of Adoptive Parents in 1971 and became co-presidents in 1974. Lynda was an amazing leader as CAP advocated for the waiting children and supported Judge Donald Corbett when he opened Family Court. She was of incredible support to The CAP Book which was founded by the Council of Adoptive Parents and went on to become Children Awaiting Parents.

Lynda was the computer guru. She introduced the staff to Quicken and had a member of her computer company teach everyone word processing. She was the volunteer consultant when CAP went to a computer program for listing the children from the book. She held everyone’s hand as we navigated a new world.

Lynda was always available for advice and practical solutions for problems as they arose. She was not only my dear friend but a wonderful human being. I will miss her.

Lynda's memorial can be found here.
